Elizabeth A. Novak
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Ms. Novak earned a Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001. She completed her clinical internship with the University Counseling Services at VCU where she worked with undergraduate and graduate students. She has been working as a therapist in private practice since 2004 and joined the Meridian Group in 2006. She treats adults with a variety of concerns including anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, grief, relationship issues and PTSD. She has a special interest in the mind-body connection and working with individuals and couples who are experiencing difficult life transitions.
Prior to becoming a Clinical Social Worker, Ms. Novak lived and worked in a number of different states and out of the country. She taught elementary school students in public schools. She has also worked with several large corporations. These past experiences put her in a unique position to assist adults from different cultural backgrounds and individuals who are transitioning in their careers. Ms. Novak believes accepting individuals as unique people, looking at past experiences and focusing on one's strengths allows them to identify patterns in their lives that will enhance change and bring about healing. She uses an integrative approach which includes mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems and emotionally focused therapy with couples.
